Sometimes you don’t need to spend a fortune to fix a decorating mistake or problem. In fact, easy and inexpensive solutions are more common than you may think. Here are six cheap and simple decorating fixes.
1) Paint. Need to update a room or give it some flair. Paint is the easiest and least expensive fix there is. With a gallon or two, about $50, you can give a room a brand new look.
2) Throws and pillows. Ok, so the sofa is getting worn and dated, but the budget won’t allow you to replace it yet. What to do? Casually drape some throw blankets across a corner and add some coordinating pillows. Don’t just put the throw over the back, have go on the corner, draping so it falls across an arm, part of the back, and over a cushion. We were selling our house and had redecorated the whole thing, but we couldn’t afford new couches even though the dog had snagged the fabric with his claws. Throws and pillows covered up the problem spots and made the boring couches look romantic and inviting.
3) Area rugs. Have a problem floor or a spot? Hide it with a rug. We had refinished hardwood floors in our first house, but there was a water stain smack dab in the middle of the room that no amount of standing could fix. We didn’t have the money to replace the floor so we bought a small oriental rug instead. While the rug seemed expensive at the time, it was cheaper than replacing half of the hardwood, added a warm luxurious feel to the room, and it has lasted nearly 20 years!
4) New cabinet hardware. Cabinets make a big statement in a kitchen or bath, but replacing them cost thousands of dollars. For a simple way to update and dress up cabinets, simply change the hardware. Get fancy knobs that make a statement. Spend a little extra than you may normally because remember how much you’re saving by not replacing your cabinets.
5) Slipcovers. Yes, slipcovers. No longer are these the horrid things your grandmother used. Now slipcovers come to be easily put on, sized to fit well, and designed to be attractive and modern. Do a Google search, and you’ll be surprised how many you can find.
6) Sponging or rag painting. Do you have a wall that’s been patched or had cracks repaired, but it’s just not as smooth as it once was? A great way to camouflage it is to sponge or rag paint the wall. The inherent texture of these painting techniques can hide a multitude of plaster and dry wall sins.

Indoor plants are also a way to start new growths and give them a better chance of survival. A rewarding and tasty plant to grow are strawberry plants. These can be easily cultivated and expanded so that every summer you can enjoy your own fresh strawberries right out of your own garden.
Unfortunately many plants have natural enemies that attach themselves to the plant. These can be aphids, moss and fungus. It’s vital to keep on top of these enemies to your plant.

All vinyl fencing is not the same.
Vinyl fencing quality varies depending on the manufacturer. There are many types of fencing out there and many different vendors, but by considering the following aspects of a vinyl fencing purchase you will get more for your money and you will end up with a product that will last. Any vinyl fencing purchase must involve research of structural specifications, long-term availability of parts, reliability of the vendor, and the commitment of the vendor to cover damage. So follow these steps and you will be on your way to obtaining a quality vinyl fence that will be easy to maintain:
1. Know your Specifications
Before purchasing vinyl fencing, make sure you compare the fence specifications so you know exactly what you are receiving. All quality vinyl fencing is made of vinyl extrusions – typically you have posts, rails, bottom rail reinforcement, and pickets. The best way to compare fences is the thickness of each vinyl extrusion. For example the 5″ x 5″ posts we sell at USAVinyl Fence Company are .150 inches thick (tolerance +- 10%). Most companies sell the lower grade vinyl fence posts that are .120″ or .135″ thick which are cheaper because they use less vinyl. The thinner wall thickness of the discount fencing is more likely to sustain a dent, crack or even break upon normal impact.
2. Use Aluminum Supports
All vinyl fencing (except post and rail) should come with metal supports in the bottom rail to add strength and prevent the rail from sagging. USAVinyl uses aluminum reinforcements in the bottom rail of all of its fencing. Some companies use wood which makes no sense, and other companies use steel which can rust in the future. Make sure the vinyl fence you are buying has a strong aluminum support in the bottom rail.
3. Don’t Buy Parts that will be Obsolete Next Year
Another factor to consider is the availability of parts in the future. Vinyl fencing is supposed to be a lifetime product, but accidents do happen. I cannot tell you how many times a tree has fallen on a fence or an automobile has run through a fence. The “cheaper” fencing typically found at your local home improvement store changes from season to season, and typically they do not keep any parts, so fixing one of their older fences to match their existing fence parts might be impossible. Those who smoke cigars, take their cigars seriously. For many, it is an indulgence in which they relish; a time to relax or reflect, celebrate or seal the deal. Keeping Cigars Fresh
Humidity control is the primary way to ensure freshness for cigars. A humidor humidifier – a device which adds just the right amount of moisture to the air of a humidor is a must have device for anyone who stores their cigars for longer than a week.
Collectors of fine cigars have invested a great deal of time and money into finding the finest manufactured cigars. To simply store those in a wooden box or jar would never do. These items must be stored in a properly controlled environment – namely the humidor.
Sizes & Styles of Humidor Humidifiers
For a small collection of cigars a small container will do. Humidity still however needs to be properly regulated. Depending on the climate in which you live and the weather conditions, there may be enough humidity in the room air. That’s fine, but the enclosed container must also have the right conditions.
There are humidifier models designed to create the perfect atmosphere for any size humidor. Units can be installed in humidors holding between 25-30 cigars, or for those that hold 100 cigars. Even whole room systems are available for rooms holding thousands of treasured cigars.
Small, box sized humidifiers can run for several months without needing to be refilled with enough water to create the right amount of humidity. This allows you to fill the reservoir and basically forget about it for a long time.
For large collections – those held in a full room humidor – a much larger humidifying system is required. These generally hook up to a continuous waurce, much like a household hot water tank would. Just as you turn on the faucet in your kitchen, the vaporizer part of the humidifier would turn on when humidity levels get too low for optimal freshness of the cigars. These electric pumps use a hepa filter to act as an internal purifier.
The Role of the Hygrometer
A hygrometer is the gauge that determines if there is enough humidity or not produced by the humidor humidifier. You can have the top, state of the art humidifier with endless and continuous water supply, but if the hygrometer isn’t working then it is all for naught.
A hygrometer can be either analogue or digital and can work to control just humidity or temperature and humidity together as in the digital models. The right combination of both will give you the best overall results.
